Honestly, I feel like there was so much more to her character. She did, after all, raise Rapunzel. So did she ever have the motherly moments, like when Rapunzel took her first steps? Did she ever truly love Rapunzel as a daughter and not just her private fountain of youth? I sort of feel like she did at one point. And she could possibly have some background that explains why she's so obsessed with her youth, like she was rejected by a lover for growing old?
Your thoughts?
Mother Gothel is still a mystery to me? I do wonder about her background as well? In my opinion, I think Mother Gothel only loves Rapunzel because of her hair. I could see Mother Gothel have a fondness towards Rapunzel, but that’s because she been taking care for her for almost 18 years. If you know someone for a really long time, you should feel something maybe not love, but maybe some sort of affection towards them.
I don’t want to compare her obsession to youth and immortal life to Jack Sparrow, but I can’t help it =P I speculate that maybe some point in Mother Gothel’s life (Before she found the magical flower) she was close to death before. Kinda like how Jack Sparrow went to Davy Jones’s Locker it was his doom death. When Jack got out of the locker he became so obsessed with the idea of being immortal and tries to become the Captain Of Flying Dutchmen (But fails). Also, the plot for POTC 4 is Jack trying to find Fountain Of Youth (It seems like he still has his obsession of immortality -_-‘). Sorry, if this became a bit off topic.
