So, I had another amazing Tangled revelation just a few days ago. I was flipping through my art book (as I do, quite often), and I stopped in my tracks when I saw these designs of the King and Queen:
These designs seem oddly familiar to something we’ve seen recently…
It could just be a coincidence, but knowing how much research the crew does on past concept art, I think it’s safe to say that Herz der Sonne and Shampainer are based off old designs of the King and Queen!
To celebrate the return of Varian to Tangled the Series this Sunday I thought I’d post some early development as well as my final model for our favorite Alchemist! Shane Prigmore started the ball rolling and I took his design and came up with the final. Even from an early stage we thought this character was going to be special and as I was drawing him I was having pipe dreams of seeing cosplayers at conventions dressed as Varian. I specifically added the goggles to give him a signature element for that goal. So seeing that dream realized at D23 with so many amazing Varians was a real thrill! We’ve got great plans for Varian and I’m sure your all gonna love him in “Great Expotations” this Sunday July 30th!
It’s the first thing people see when they enter the castle, dad. I mean maybe we could remodel it, or something. You know, make it warm and welcoming! {x}
So, the Eugene (I refuse to call him Flynn when he was a child) Animator Doll is available at my local Disney Store! He’s even cuter in person, and the art Byron Howard drew for his design is just precious! ♥
I hope we get an image release of these pictures without all the words in the way.
When the rogue Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi) chooses an isolated tower for his latest hideout, he has no idea the tower is already occupied by a princess who was kidnapped as an infant by the greedy Mother Gothel (Donna Murphy).
